I came across Jia Jiang’s third video on Twitter. First, I was impressed with the worker at Krispy Kreme, Jackie, and second, I thought his journey was an awesome idea.

Jia Jiang wants to get over his fear of rejection. So, what better way to get over a fear than to confront it head on. And from what I can tell, he already has. Anyway, he is going out and trying to get rejected with outlandish requests for 100 days, and he invites us to share in his journey by putting his videos up on YouTube, and on his blog, entresting.com.

I respect what he is doing and I give him props for leaving his comfort zone. Some requests are pretty easy, like requesting a “burger refill”, (I love Five Guys by the way)  and others are more challenging and awkward, like knocking on a stranger’s door and asking to play soccer in his back yard. In this day and age, when was the last time you knocked on a stranger’s door?

I like that Jia puts himself out there, and I also like how he adds the human element to his videos. If I were trying to get rejected, and someone was acting like a douche to me, I might be a little annoyed because I really value humanity and I think everyone should be respected. Jia doesn’t get annoyed at all.  But then again, he wants to get rejected, so maybe he expects some people to act like douches. And in fact, he sometimes compliments the people in his videos.

I’ll post one of his videos from one of his challenges–and one of my favorites so far–Give $5 to $5 random people:

Questions

Why do you think the people didn’t take the money? Because of the reciprocity principle? Because he didn’t give them a reason? Because they didn’t trust a stranger? Leave your comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts on Jia’s journey and also this video.

There is a famous saying, “Do one thing every day that scares you.” So, what are you going to do today to leave your comfort zone?

Good luck the rest of the way, Jia, and thanks for sharing your journey with us and incorporating the human element throughout.

If your curious follow his journey at entresting.com.
